Tufted Titmouse Experience

My husband and I were spending a relaxing summer afternoon in our cool spa when I felt something buzz my head. We kept still to follow the upcoming action. Mama Titmouse had found a good material to make her nest comfortable for her future chicks. Over about 20 visits in a period of just a few minutes, she used her beak to break off strands of my hair and fly off to her nest, drop the hairs, and return. Later, we noticed my sister's white furry dog, Timber, was resting against our screened porch door, and the bird plucked some of his hairs through the screen. So, we decided to brush Timber's thick hair and place the clumps in an empty hanging basket on the deck. Sure enough, Mama Titmouse soon found the basket and began taking Timber's hair to her nest.
