Some of South Carolina's common birds are declining in numbers. According to Audubon South Carolina, the following birds have declined over a 40-year period, from 1967 to 2007:
Northern Bobwhite 96%
Red-Winged Blackbird 75%
Eastern Meadowlark 73%
Little Blue Heron 51%
Blue Jay 50%
